Reference Letter Example – Lay-Off

Enclosing a reference letter in your documents submitted to get a job is a common phenomenon. The importance of reference letter is different for different employers, but, all of them do attach some level of importance to it. Due to this recognition, it becomes obligatory for a candidate to submit a letter of reference to gain more importance and value in the eyes of an employer.

In most cases, you will have to get in touch with someone who may be perfect to write a letter for you. Here, it is worth mentioning that there are different types of reference letters which are used differently. For instance, there are simple reference letters which provide information about the working of a person in a company and there are personal reference letters which are written by friends and relatives to highlight the personal character of a person.

Apart from these basic types, there is another type which differs slightly because of the information provided in it. This is the reference letter explaining the lay-off. This type of reference letter is written by the employer to inform another employer about the competency of a person along with informing about the reason of getting laid-off.

This basically is the reference letter as it talks about the qualities and contribution of a person working in a company. But, it is effective than others because here company usually writes about its own limitations. For instance, a company may write that the person is being laid-off only because of the reorganization of a company. This makes others understand that the other company regrets to leave such an employee and that is the reason why it becomes easier to secure another job.

The aforementioned example is the ideal situation where a reference letter can become extremely effective. It however is significant to mention that a company may have different reasons behind the lay-off which may not be as helpful as others. It is because of this particular reason that reference letters explaining a lay-off are highly effectual. They can create a great impact on other employers, resulting in an easy acquisition of a new job.
