What are Cover Letters?
Writing cover letter is the most critical task while applying for an interview. However, if you give yourself some honest time and practice rigorously by following some simple tricks, you will soon become an expert at writing letters while sending your resume to your prospective employers. Essentially a cover letter reflects three major purposes – (1) it offers a formal introduction about you, (2) it emphasizes on the special areas from your resume that corresponds to the particular position and (3) it helps to smooth the progress of the meeting between you and your employer.
The primary aim of a cover letter is to promote the strengths in such a fashion so that it may make the employers interested about you. One of the essential quality of a good cover letter is its simplicity and easy to read presentation. While writing your cover letter, you must maintain the paper size of 8.5″ x 11″. Your cover letter must be flowed with appropriate English, spelling, spacing, paraphrasing, and margins. Always remember that a quality cover letter must not be too long in size, so limit your writing within one page.
The first paragraph catches all the attention. So include there some well-timed issues associated with the company’s maneuver or some uncongenial statement of exceptional information relating to your talent and expertise. While writing the body of the cover letter, you must make it sure that it must be both interesting and consisting of accuracy relating to your assets and qualifications. Do not exaggerate this area by mentioning about something related to unemployment or lack of experience.
The last paragraph is specifically an action part in which you should directly ask your employer about the prospective interview arrangement. At this area, your writing style should be aligned with politeness, however, with a direct approach. The cover letter must end with a formal salutation such as ‘Sincerely yours’ or ‘faithfully yours’. Just below the salutation, you must include your signature along with your name, place and date. To make your cover letter both satisfying to read and effective, you must abide by these formulations.
